The concept for the trailhead pavilion building was derived from a railroad roundhouse that is shaped like a semi-circle to accommodate locomotives for maintenance. This building typology was implemented for the shape of the roof that covers the open-air performance stage and restroom facility. The building design will provide functional services for visitors as well as the visual anchor for the park. The materials used on the project include brick masonry, limestone accents, industrial windows, standing seam metal roofing, cedar soffit, structural steel columns/beams, and perforated metal wall cladding that are all reminiscent of a railroad roundhouse design style translated into a modern setting.
